Hey Reader!
Are you ready to incorporate a child-led approach into your home routine? In our last newsletter, we learned what a child-led approach to therapy is and how it can empower your child. If you missed it, you can read the blog here and share the newsletter blast here.
Today, we’ll further explore the power of child-led therapy sessions and how you can apply these empowering strategies at home to foster independence, confidence, and intrinsic motivation in your child.
Understanding Your Child's "No"
Ever wondered why your child says "no"? It's not always defiance—it could be about autonomy, testing boundaries, or communicating discomfort. Understanding their reasons can change how you approach the situation.
What to Do When Your Child Says "No"
Instead of battling over tasks, sometimes it can be more beneficial to focus on what your child can and is willing to do. For instance, if your child resists handwriting, explore activities they enjoy that still develop those skills, like tying shoelaces or creative drawing. There’s more on this in the blog post, and I have a bonus resource for you at the end of this newsletter!
Empowering Through Connection
Building rapport is key. Share stories, be honest, and show genuine interest in your child's world. This connection can lead to surprising shifts in attitude and engagement, like the child who mastered tying shoelaces after a heartfelt conversation. Want to read more about this? Check it out here.
